Senior DevOps Engineer

As our new Senior DevOps Engineer you will need to have

REQUIREMENTS

What Type of Senior DevOps Engineer is Affinitas Looking For?

The DevOps Engineering Team at Affinitas is responsible for building and maintaining our core operations infrastructure. As a key member of the global production operations team, the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building, troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving foundational infrastructure, Such as: DNS, DHCP/PXE, Operating System images, patching, provisioning systems,load balancing, configuration management schemes, LDAP/S, backup, virtualization and more.
The successful Candidate will be versatile, with an extensive Unix Systems Engineeringbackground with deep knowledge/understanding of UNIX/Linux internals (kernel/libraries,filesystems, package management, etc.), experience working with many open source technologies such as: (nginx, terraform, splunk, elastic, nagios, xsql, postgres, git, memcache, redis and ldap are some examples). An understanding of what it means to own a problem, focus on tasks and ability to filter out distractions and a process mindset are essential skills.
MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience with Ruby, Python or Java (Node.js)
Building Continuous Delivery Pipelines, leveraging Jenkins, Spinnaker, Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Marathon
Experience or deep Knowledge of at least some of the following: Spinnaker, Docker, Kubernetes, Hazelcast, Marathon, Mesos, PaaS etc.
Understanding of MapReduce commands (Hadoop etc.) is good to have
The Experience to breakdown distributed systems, identify points of failure, and fix problems
Experience working in a distributed support team with minimal Supervision
Extensive Knowledge of Open Source web/mobile Technologies and Soucecodemanagementsystems (such as: Git)
Experience in an enterprise scale production environment with uptime (zero downtime) requirements and process
Experience with current DevOps tool chains for Infrastructure deployment, software build/test/deploy, and systems/application monitoring/logging such as Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, Chef, SALT, Puppet, ELK, Prometheus etc.
Experience and a deeper understanding for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
A deeper understanding and experience with Loadbalancers would be particularly useful (NGNIX or f5)
Understanding of the Role, Function, and Operation of common infrastructure components like Loadbalancers, firewalls, routers, switches
Experience with tools and automation used to bootstrap and provision servers in a data center environment
Detail oriented with excellent communication skills
Your Tasks:

Experience designing, building, testing, delivering and supporting fully fledged web services or applications
Work with engineering teams on design & implementation of new rollouts
Work with engineering teams on design & implementation of large scale systems
Use your ESP to determine what is going to break and when
Automating post deploy smoke tests to test and validate production changes
Act as an advocate for adoption of best practices in system design and support standards
A self-starter that is not afraid to dig in and spend time investigating or learning on their own, but knows when to reach out for guidance.
